Tangible sugary scents and a minor victory of sorts
Certain failures will follow and guide you through action and/or inaction all your life. These are happy mistakes that often end with some jerkoff stepping on your hand when you try and crawl out of the bar. It is better if we do not learn from them individually -- but rather -- learn to accept them as a part of life. C. Rupes, Jesse, and I started off beningly enough with coffees at the Suniland Starbucks. We used charm and discount coupons with the broads on staff and figured we'd sit around and chat till Jesse made the airport run at five am. But the failure of having assessed Stir Crazy's "Every Monday night is Cinco de Mayo" special as the best deal in town crept up and soon enough we were getting patted down by the doorman and entering a surprisingly good smelling establishment. The perfumes have changed since last I stumbled in and nary a Cesarean Section scar in sight! This place is built for losers like us. Built on a dream of winning something or at least getting away with tangiability... and the dollars followed. Five bucks for a shot of tequila and an ice cold limed-up Corona? Seven or eight of those later and I was agreeing with Desireé's dream of white-picket fences, three kids, and general suburban bliss. When the Scorpio stings the Virgo; weird words will follow but I'll be damned if I don't appreciate Puerto Rico just a tad more now. It's almost three pm and the slow oblong stretch that's been massaging my brain has finally subsided. We didn't win shit but Desireé's sugary perfume lingers on my neck and that is, if anything, tangible. Henry Chinaski likes 'em thick and I drink to all my friends!
